One item that is fun to wear during the warm weather is a pair of cropped trousers where the hemline falls anywhere from just below the knee to the middle of the calf. They are simply lovely when it’s too hot to wear regular trousers, yet they also cover up any “trouble areas”, giving a flattering overall look for a woman’s figure.
However, wearing the right shoes or boots can be a bit tricky; wear the right footwear and you’ll look shapely and fashionable. Wear the wrong pair and you’ll look short, squat, and frumpy. Here is a list of the footwear that works well with cropped trousers.
Flip flops. For a casual look, flip flops are comfortable and make your legs look slimmer. However, if you’re going anywhere more formal than a garden barbecue, you’ll need to wear something a bit dressier.
Wedge Sandals This type of shoe combined with cropped trousers is a match made in heaven. Along with being more glamorous than flip-flops, wedge sandals highlight the shapeliness of the calf and make legs look longer. Ensure that the top of the wedge sandal shoes as much skin as possible, otherwise the shoe may overpower the entire outfit.
Court shoes and open-toed shoes. For a more polished and classy look, pair cropped trousers with court or open-toed shoes with a medium-high heel. Avoid any shoes with a chunky boxed or stiletto heel; they will distract from the outfit and might look over-the-top.
Tall boots. Tall boots that rise to just below the knee work very well with wider cropped trousers such as gauchos. The look is more than appropriate for the cooler months, and can look very nice when combined with tights.
Kitten heels, ballet flats. These are shoes that can look good with cropped trousers; however, they will not work for everyone. Simple kitten heels will look good on shorter women as ballet flats can make them look even smaller. Ballet flats will look good on women with long, slender legs. Women who have heavier legs should avoid ballet flats at all costs and go with a pair of wedge sandals or med-high heels.
